About this Resource
Did you know that the Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (VDDHH) offers telecommunications equipment and assistive technology to qualified Virginia residents who are d/Deaf, hard of hearing, speech disabled, or have a combination of hearing and vision loss?
The Technology Assistance Program (TAP) provides telephone and signaling equipment at a lower cost. These devices include:
Amplified telephones
Captioned telephones
Personal amplifiers
Flashing or amplified phone and doorbell signalers
Eligibility requirements are based on household income level and family size for Virginia residents to determine if you qualify for equipment at no cost or pay the state cost. Additionally, military Veterans with hearing or speech loss who can provide a copy of their Honorable Discharge paperwork (form DD-214 or NGD-22) automatically qualify for equipment at no cost.
