In the documentary film Deaf Jam, director Judy Lieff follows a deaf teen who boldly enters the spoken word poetry slam scene. After the screening, join Lieff for a question and answer session, followed by a live presentation of American Sign Language poetry by Gallaudet University students. (70min.)

Poetry slam will begin following film Q&A McEvoy Auditorium
Events are open to deaf and hearing visitors. ASL interpreters will be available. This program is a collaboration with the National Portrait Gallery.

Art Signs: Programs in American Sign Language

The National Gallery of Art offers monthly tours in ASL the second Sunday of every month. The tours meet in the Rotunda of the West Building at 1:00 p.m. for a one hour highlights tour. All tours are interpreted into spoken English as well.
The NGA also offers a video ASL tour available on the Acoustiguide device. Visitors check out Acoustiguide devices for free at the Acoustiguide desk (just inside the entrance leading to the Rotunda of the West Building).
