ASL Immersion Summer Programs at Gallaudet – Register Now!

Date of program: July 09 – 17, 2015

An exciting intensive camp in which campers will be exposed to ASL 24/7 while learning from qualified ASL Instructors and practicing with camp counselors and peers who are deaf and hearing alike! This camp is for experienced signers who are at the intermediate level or above, a screening interview will be a condition of acceptance. Three different course levels will be offered, ensuring that each camper receives instruction appropriate to their skill level. In addition to experiencing deaf culture and history, campers will have the opportunity to explore our Nation’s Capital,attend social events, and more

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • At least 250 hours of experience in a recreation or school setting serving individuals with disabilities (college course work can supplement experience)
  • Have or acquire CPR and First Aid Certification for children and adults that is valid through August 2015
  • TB test results: New applicants must have proof of a negative result within the last year, returning staff need proof of a negative result within the past two years

Summer Camp Opportunity

Believe it or not, summer is just around the corner and we’re looking for campers for our 7th annual Sign Language Camp.  The camp is a one week residential program for children who have completed grades 3-8.  We are looking for both Deaf children and hearing children who are interested in learning sign.

Apply by Feb. 6th for the 2015 AAPD Summer Internship Program

If you will be living in the Washington, DC area during the 2015 summer and you’re a college student, graduate student, law student, or recent graduate (within one year), AAPD’s Summer Internship Program provides the opportunity to gain hands-on professional experience to help advance your career goals. Interns will receive a stipend, mentor matching, and additional resources during the summer. Candidates interested in careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and veterans with disabilities are highly encouraged to apply.

MARK: Something is coming up soon! Yes! The NAD YLC 2015 will be happening this summer! The National Association of the Deaf (NAD) Youth Leadership Camp (YLC) is looking for interested staff members to join us this summer. It’ll happen June 15th – July 23rd. Staff members will have staff training prior to a four-week camp. They will also have a wrap-up session at the end. Please apply online at nad.org/ylcstaff. You just need to fill out an application, provide a cover letter, a resume, letters of recommendations, and a video essay. Come and join us this summer! It will be an extraordinary opportunity for you to get involved in working with deaf youth from all over the nation. It will be a lot of fun and the camp is filled with various activities, personal growth, and connections. This is where we can advocate for our community. Summer Deaf & ASL Camp in Knoxville, MD

Once a year, rising high school juniors and seniors can apply to become a delegate for the Youth Leadership Forum (YLF). Although applications are due by March 31student-walking-hallway.jpgthe YLF occurs in the summer–this year it will be held July 28-Aug.1 at Virginia Commonwealth University.

RIT/NTID Summer Camp Application Deadline April 30th

RIT/NTID to Offer Educational Summer Camps for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Students

Camps for deaf and hard-of-hearing teenagers are planned this summer at Rochester Institute of Technology’s National Technical Institute for the Deaf, where they will get hands-on experience building computers or other high-tech devices, learn which college majors and careers may be best suited for them and meet other campers from around the country while enjoying recreational activities.

Explore Your Future, a six-day career awareness program for college-bound high school sophomores and juniors who are deaf or hard of hearing. Students experience college life, enjoy hands-on activities and get a taste of real world careers in the fields of art, business, computing, engineering, health sciences and science. Two sessions of the camp are being offered this year: July 13-18, or July 20-25, 2013. Deadline to apply is April 30.
