Virginia Tax Credits Can Make your Home More Livable

Make your house more accessible and safe by taking advantage of Virginia’s Livable Home Tax Credit Program. Tax credits up to $5,000 can be used for the purchase or construction of a new accessible residence and up to 50 percent for the cost of retrofitting an existing home (not to exceed $5,000). The application deadline is February 28.

Check out the guidelines and application.

NVRC Note: Page 2 of the application form addresses retrofitting of an existing unit allows “sensory modifications” to qualify for tax credits; page 4 defines sensory modifications as alarms, appliances or controls designed to assist sensory disabled purposes.
