Adult ASL Class (ages 15 > up)

Beginner ASL (6 weeks)
Wednesdays – January 17 – February 21
6:30pm-8:30pm
Cost – $150 – No textbook is required

Beginner ASL is an introductory course to American Sign Language, the Community and the Culture. Students will learn fingerspelling, numbers, gestures, glossing and an introduction to ASL signs.

Teacher bio: Brad Staton is a graduate of Gallaudet University. He has taught ASL classes at Community Colleges and Adult Education Centers in Danville, VA, Roanoke, VA, and San Antonio, TX. Brad is Deaf/Hard of Hearing and has used ASL most of his life.

Adult ASL Class (ages 15 > up)

Conversational ASL (6 weeks)
Thursdays – January 18 – February 22
6:30pm-8:30pm
Cost – $150 – No textbook is required

Conversational ASLis a 6-week course focusing on fingerspelling drills, practicing signs in scenarios and role playing and enhancing receptive skills by watching ASL videos. Students will continue to build on vocabulary learned in the Beginner ASL class. The class will also learn about Deaf culture and discuss do’s and don’ts with individuals with a hearing loss.

Youth American Sign Language (ASL)

Youth ASL Classes  are 5-week introductory courses that are taught by Stephanie Poumade, owner of Signs & Sounds Therapy.

Beginner Youth ASL class Ages 9-15
Saturdays, 10:00-10:45
April 7 – May 5, 2018
Cost – $100

In the 45 minute sessions, students learn fingerspelling, colors, question words, people words, jobs and occupations, foods, time words, and opposites. The class is a combination of learning signs and applying them in fun, real-life practice.

Intermediate Youth ASL class Ages 9-15
Saturdays, 11:00-11:45
April 7 – May 5, 2018
Cost – $100

In the 45 minute sessions, students will review concepts from the Beginner class as well as learning numbers, common objects around the house, clothing words, describing people, leisure activities, and community locations . The class is a combination of learning signs and applying them in fun, real-life practice.
