Beginner ASL (6 weeks)

Conversational ASL (6 weeks)

Beginner ASL is an introductory course to American Sign Language, the Community and the Culture. Students will learn fingerspelling, numbers, gestures, glossing and an introduction to ASL signs.  

No textbook is required

Teacher bio: Brad Staton is a graduate of Gallaudet University. He has taught ASL classes at Community Colleges and Adult Education Centers in Danville, VA, Roanoke, VA, and San Antonio, TX. Brad is Deaf/Hard of Hearing and has used ASL most of his life.

 

 

 

Conversational ASL is a 6-week course focusing on fingerspelling drills, practicing signs in scenarios and role playing and enhancing receptive skills by watching ASL videos. Students will continue to build on vocabulary learned in the Beginner ASL class.

The class will also learn about Deaf culture and discuss do’s and don’ts with individuals with a hearing loss.   

No textbook is required.
