NVRC Outreach Specialist, Marla Dougherty, presents a 3-part series based on NVRC’s  publication: I Can’t Hear You! Live and Laugh with Hearing Loss  at various locations in Alexandria. 

Session 1 covers the ear and how we hear, how we lose our hearing, tinnitus, visiting the audiologist, understanding the audiogram, and hearing aids. Session 2 presents a variety of assistive listening devices with demonstrations. Session 3 focuses on the psychological impact of hearing loss, and the benefits of good communication strategies and support groups.

Admission is FREE, and participants will receive a  complimentary copy of NVRC’s 70-page booklet, I Can’t Hear You! Live and Laugh with Hearing Loss, a $12.95 value.

Marla Dougherty is a late-deafened adult who started to lose her hearing in her early twenties. Her personal experience with the effects of hearing loss on daily communication and advantages of hearing aid use, provides a foundation for offering support and encouragement to others. 
 
As part of NVRC’s outreach program, Marla invites hearing people, as well as those who are hard of hearing, to join her program.
