Joan Cassidy is NVRC’s Outreach Specialist.  She has regular walk-in hours in various locations in Loudoun County where she is available to discuss hearing loss and assistive devices that may improve communication.  NVRC services are offered for FREE to Loudoun County residents.  Services include presentations to groups, private appointments, exhibits, providing fact sheets and information and distribution of hearing assistive technology equipment .Monthly Outreach Hours:    (No appointment needed.)

 I Can’t Hear You! Live and Laugh with Hearing Loss Presentation
NVRC Outreach Specialist, Marla Dougherty, presented a 3-part series based on NVRC’s  publication:    I Can’t Hear You! Live and Laugh with Hearing Loss at the Cascades Library in October.

 Session 1 covered the ear and how we hear, how we lose our hearing, tinnitus, visiting the audiologist, understanding the audiogram, and hearing aids. Session 2 presented of a variety of assistive listening devices with demonstrations. Session 3 focused on the psychological impact of hearing loss, and the benefits of good communication strategies and support groups.
