NVRC was among 66 organizations to be honored by Fairfax County’s Department of Neighborhood and Community Services at their annual Partner Recognition Ceremony on May 21st.  NCS recognized outstanding individuals and organizations who assisted NCS in fulfilling its mission “to bring people and resources together to strengthen the well-being of individuals and communities.”

During the presentation, NVRC was honored for having “been a valuable partner to the South County Senior Center.  Through collaborative efforts, seniors of South County Senior Center have received valuable information and services.  NVRC provides on-going educational sessions and consultation at the Center.  The ‘I Can’t Hear You!’ program offered by NVRC is one of the highest attended at the center.  The program reduces the stigma of hearing loss and encourages participants to implement strategies that reduce frustration and social isolation.”

Bonnie O’Leary, NVRC’s Outreach Manager who developed the “I Can’t Hear You!” program and whose focus is Fairfax County, accepted the award for NVRC from NCS Agency Director, Chris Leonard.
