HLAA Announces New Virginia State Chapter Coordinator

Elizabeth LeBarron, HLAA National States and Chapters Coordinator is pleased to announce that Don Doherty is the new HLAA State Chapters Coordinator for Virginia. In this role, Don is the chief liaison for HLAA and our Virginia Chapters. Don brings a wealth of experience to the role including serving as the president of the HLAA Virginia Beach Chapter and is largely responsible for the Chapter’s renewed growth.
Don also has worked in Mental Health for the Department of Veterans Affairs since 1991 and since May 2001 as the Education Specialist at the National Chaplain Center, Veteran’s Administration Medical Center, in Hampton, VA, where he trains Department of Veteran Affairs chaplains. Don retired after 23 years with the Marine Corps and lost a significant amount of his hearing due to combat duty in Vietnam.
He has experience in working at the state level. He served as the VA and WV state director for the American Academy of Medical Administrators in 1990-1991; Marine Corps League Senior Vice Commandant for VA in 1996; and VA Marine Corps League State Judge Advocate in 1999.
