Sign Language Incorporated in Jim Jones “Perfect Day” Video

Hip Hop Wired (http://hiphopwired.com) reported on April 8, 2011 that Jim Jones incorporated sign language as he rapped in his new lead single “Perfect Day”. The song has been an FM radio success. Jones told the New York Daily News that his use of sign language was prompted by a query from the mother of a close friend. She is deaf and asked him “Why don’t people in the music industry ever have people doing sign language in their videos, because they love music, too? They can feel the beat like anybody else.”

“Perfect Day” is on Jones’ album Capo. Jones also pays tribute to the troops and individuals affected by cancer, adding flashes of pink in the video.

Some signs are incorporated in the video itself, others by both female and male signers can be viewed in a box at the bottom right of the screen. At the end of the video a dedication of the video appears in text, recognizing “people who have hearing disabilities.”
