ASL Interpreted Jack & the Beanstalk at Puppet Co. Playhouse

Sunday, March 13, 2011 at 1 pm

The Puppet Co. Playhouse, in the North Arcade Building of Glen Echo Park, Glen Echo, MD, will present Jack and the Beanstalk, the latest in its popular series of children’s theatrical productions.

Fe-fi-fo-fum.  A timely version of the classic children’s tale about the young lad that doesn’t know beans about trading but still manages to climb his way to the top.  Jack finds that happiness lies in helping others rather than mere personal gain.  Told with rod puppets and some surprising twists, Jack has long been a favorite of our audiences. Jack and the Beanstalk will be performed Feb. 17 – April 1, 2011, with performances Thursdays and Fridays at 10:00 and 11:30 a.m., and Saturdays and Sundays at 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.  It is recommended for K – Grade 6 and runs 45 minutes.  Tickets are $10.00, with group rates available.

On Sunday, March 13, 2011, the 1:00 p.m. performance will be American Sign Language interpreted.  For information call (301) 634-5380.

The Puppet Co. celebrates its 28th anniversary this year.  The Puppet Co. is the first recipient of the Cherry Adler Award from the Maryland State Arts Council for excellence in Children’s Theater. This internationally recognized children’s theater serves approximately 100,000 children and adults annually in the D.C. metropolitan area, including visitors from all over the U.S. and the world.

The Puppet Co. is a non-profit organization producing puppet theater, especially for children, as an art form synthesizing the visual and performing arts.  Hand puppets, rod puppets, marionettes and shadow puppets are used in fully staged productions of the traditional and original stories which comprise its ever-growing repertory.
